Thank you to the 86 startups and scaleups that applied to MME!
After two months receiving applications from dozens of startups and scaleups all over Europe and beyond (H2020 associated countries are also eligible to be part of the programme), MediaMotorEurope’s first Open Call closed on the 17th of July, at 17h00 CEST. As many as 145 companies have expressed their interest in the programme, with 86 of them submitting an application.
MediaMotorEurope is looking for the brightest creative and unique solutions for the media and creative industries. The candidates can target one of the proposed challenges related to the media sector (the fight against misinformation and fake news; improved accessibility and inclusion of media services for people with disabilities; more advanced human-machine interaction; better protection of personal data through new technologies; and transition towards a data-driven media 4.0 market) or present a solution for a different challenge, as long as it was directed at the media and creative industries.
The applications have passed through an eligibility check and are now being thoroughly evaluated, with the purpose of finding the top 20 solutions that will join the first MME support cycle.
What’s the next step?
MME’s partners are working hard on the evaluation of the candidates, and results will be announced before the end of August. Twenty companies will be chosen to join MediaMotorEurope’s first support cycle, and will embark on a six-month intensive mentoring programme. Each startup will be assigned to one of the four innovation hubs: Cluster Sofia Knowledge Sofia in Bulgaria, Thermi in Greece, VRT in Belgium or Media City Bergen in Norway.
After the hub assignment, the selected applicants will start enjoying all the benefits our programme has to offer: tailored coaching, meetings and networking opportunities with investors, matchmaking with media and creative corporations and public procurement support, pitching and showcasing opportunities at major media events and more.
Did you miss the deadline?
In case you didn’t have the chance to apply this time, do not worry: you will have two more opportunities. MediaMotorEurope will support a minimum of 60 startups/scaleups during three support cycles throughout two years.
The expected timeline for the next Open Calls is as follows, stay tuned:
- Open Call 2: September -November 2020 (Support cycle: January – June 2021)
- Open Call 3: March – May 2021 (Support cycle: July – December 2021)
