Klap was born from a group of sports enthusiasts that wanted to transform the way people live sports, with the help of augmented reality.
Olivier Chatillon, CEO of Klap, talked to us about what they do, what the team is passionate about and how the MME programme and the coach Nikolas Takas were key in triggering their business traction and in helping them during their product launch. Check it out below!
What’s the story behind Klap? How was the idea for this business born?
Imagine you watch a horse race. Imagine you have bet on a horse.
It is so hard to spot your horse. Many times, you even miss your horse until the end.
You lose the race.
This is so frustrating, but it means a huge loss for a 100-billion-dollar market!
We want to change this.
Using deep technology, Klap automatically tracks and highlights horses so anyone can follow their horse.
Same thing we can do for soccer, biking and other sports.
With augmented reality, Klap transforms the way we live sports.
We aim to augment human capabilities so humans can focus on what they do best.
Which is the media challenge that your solution tackles and how do you set apart from the other companies with similar solutions?
Through our breakthrough tracking technology, we not only augment fan experience, but we are also implementing our solution into any camera so that any sports event can have access to efficient remote production.
Do you have any inspirational quotes that you like in particular or that you apply to your company?
“Sailing is an activity that is not suitable for impostors. In many professions, one can deceive and bluff with impunity. By boat, you know or don’t know. Woe to cheaters. The ocean is merciless.” by Eric Tabarly
We are a team of sports lovers and humility, courage and determination are our values.
And about MME… Why did you apply?
We applied to gain media sector expertise. We also needed a mentor to challenge our business ideas. Sharing with the MME community, Thermi group and MME team added high value to our company. Helped us to trigger business traction and also helped us during our product launch.
Who was your coach? Tell us a bit about how it was to work with him/her.
Our coach was Nikolas Takas. It was a pleasure to meet him. He tried to put us in contact with business leads. He also facilitated the bridge between us and some MME startups with whom we could have some interest to pursue business.
What were the greatest learnings you took from this programme?
First, the Media market is in demand for high value and innovative startups.
The environment is stimulating and we found some people and companies ready to challenge the status quo.
Second, the strength of MME is its European structure, and we feel it is powerful. We are excited to keep going with our technology to fully benefit from the dispositive.
