For some of the MME alumni startups and scaleups, the successful story of the MediaMotorEurope programme in 2021 gets a new chapter in 2022. This new chapter is called STADIEM: a European H2020 programme in which VRT plays a leading role and that also counts with the participation from F6S and Media City Bergen.
MME was a coaching programme for European startups and scaleups who are active in the field of deeptech media solutions. The goal was to coach and guide these companies in the process of entering the European market. With that, MME aimed to create a European deeptech business ecosystem that could strengthen media and other creative companies.
It all started with the startups or scaleups applying to an open call. Then, if they got selected, they would integrate a 6-month support cycle where every company got assigned a specialized coach. Next to this, they would also partake in workshops with experts, have the chance to build out a network with other companies, and have the opportunity to pitch to industry professionals.
By the end of each support cycle, the MME programme organized a live pitching and networking event: #MediatechOnStage. These events, aside from giving the startups the chance to showcase their solutions, also brought to the studio very relevant discussions with inputs from industry experts.
The last edition of #MediatechOnStage was on 1O February 2022 and also acted as the closing event for MME.
Now, 11 MME alumni take their place in STADIEM, a project where creating the connection between young companies, startups, investors, and media organizations is one of the main goals. By being a part of it, the companies will go through an intense testing and integration process, which forms the perfect real-life application for their projects. Furthermore, STADIEM is all about boosting innovation in Belgium and Europe by guiding young companies in their growth and in their mission to solving media-challenges. And as for the financial aspect: every participant could garner up to 150,000€ for their company.
The 2nd open call of STADIEM closed by the end of February 2022 and we can tell that 14 other MME alumni have applied to it. They are now in the process of knowing if they too were selected to be a part of this programme.
